Within Digital Services, we underpin the mission-critical activities of the University to deliver teaching, learning, research and professional services by developing innovative and agile technology solutions. We aspire to be a trusted partner within the University, helping to make the right decisions to enable the University to compete in the Digital Age. We don’t just ‘do the technology’, it’s how we do it: we’re aligned to the University’s values and we’re a people-first team. Relationships and partnerships are vital to our success, and we are continuing to deliver key initiatives to ensure our services remain secure, modern and fit for the future.
We are seeking to appoint an End User Device Specialist (12-month fixed term contract) to support the delivery of a large-scale device replacement programme across the University. This role will sit within the Digital Services Support Services team (Second Line IT Support) and will focus on the deployment of new Windows devices and the removal of legacy IT equipment across both campuses.
The successful candidate will play a key role in coordinating directly with staff to plan and deliver device replacements, ensuring a smooth transition with minimal disruption. This will include gathering user requirements, building and configuring devices using standard deployment tools, physically installing equipment to a high standard, and safely decommissioning legacy devices in line with university policies. You will work within an established project plan, managing a defined stream of activity while collaborating with colleagues across Digital Services, and will be expected to demonstrate strong organisational skills, attention to detail, and a commitment to excellent customer service. Experience of working within an IT support environment is essential, alongside strong troubleshooting skills and experience installing and configuring end user devices; experience of large-scale Windows deployments using tools such as Microsoft Configuration Manager and other similar enterprise deployment technologies would be advantageous.
