The Opportunity:
Long Term Futures are seeking a passionate and innovative Design & Technology Teacher to join an Ofsted Outstanding specialist SEN provision in Acton from September 2026.
This unique setting supports pupils with a range of additional needs, including Autism (ASD), SEMH, ADHD, and communication difficulties, through a highly personalised and therapeutic approach to learning.
The school places a strong emphasis on vocational learning pathways, providing pupils with practical, real-world experiences that prepare them for further education, employment, and independent living. The successful candidate will play a key role in delivering an engaging DT curriculum that develops creativity, technical skills, confidence, and employability.
Your Key Responsibilities:
- Plan and deliver engaging, differentiated DT lessons across KS3 & KS4
- Support vocational learning pathways and employability-focused projects
- Adapt lessons to meet EHCP outcomes and individual learning needs
- Develop pupils' practical, creative, and problem-solving skills
- Create a safe, structured, and inclusive workshop environment
- Assess, monitor, and track pupil progress effectively
- Work collaboratively with therapists, support staff, and senior leaders
- Promote positive behaviour, independence, and engagement in learning
Requirements:
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) - Essential
- Experience teaching Design & Technology in a secondary or specialist setting
- Experience supporting pupils with SEN, particularly ASD and SEMH
- Strong understanding of differentiated teaching and vocational education
- Excellent classroom and behaviour management skills
- Passion for practical learning and preparing pupils for future pathways
- Commitment to safeguarding and inclusive education
