Job Summary
A GP Receptionist is the first point of contact for patients within a GP surgery, providing a welcoming, efficient, and professional service.. They play an essential role in helping patients access care, handling sensitive information, and supporting the overall patient experience.
Duties
- Manage patient enquiries in person, over the phone, and via other communication channels.
- Book, amend, and coordinate patient appointments efficiently.
- Support the day‑to‑day administrative operations of the GP practice.
- Maintain accurate patient records and ensure information is updated promptly.
- Uphold patient confidentiality at all times in line with data protection standards.
- Work along side the clinical and administrative teams to ensure smooth practice operations
Essential requirements
- Basic GCSEs, including English and Maths
- Strong customer service skills, with a polite and professional manner.
- Ability to work under pressure in a busy, fast‑paced environment.
- Strong IT skills, including use of emails, calendars, and basic data entry.
- Good organisational and multitasking abilities.
- Team player, able to work collaboratively with clinical and administrative staff.

Desirable requirements (eg skills, knowledge, etc)
- Previous NHS admin/reception experience
- Experience of using EMIS/DocMan and other
- Previous experience in a customer facing role
Shift Pattern:
- Mon– 7.45am – 1.45pm (6)
- Tues - off
- Weds – 1pm – 6.30pm (5.5)
- Thurs – 7.45 am – 12.45pm (5)
- Fri – 1pm – 6.30pm (5.5)
