At St Leonard’s Hospice, we have a great opportunity for a part-time Retail Driver to join our driving team to help maximise income generation within the Home Collection service.
Working in a team of two each day, your main priorities as a Retail Driver will be to:
- Safely drive between the shops and Donation Centre which are based in York and the surrounding area
- Assist with the collection and moving of stock which includes bags of clothing, crates, boxes and furniture
- Be responsible for the day-to-day maintenance of the vehicle
Our ideal candidate will have:
- Experience of driving a variety of vehicles which includes larger vans
- Good customer service skills and have the ability to be sensitive and empathetic when working with the public
- Experience of working as part of a team
- A ‘can-do’ attitude and the ability to manage time and prioritise tasks
Experience of collecting and delivering goods is desirable and ideally, you will possess a good geographical knowledge of York and the surrounding area. This role is physically demanding too as there is a significant amount of lifting, moving and handling of items which can include stock items, heavy donation bags and light pieces of furniture.

This is a part-time position working 22.5 hours per week between 8am and 4pm, 3 days over 7 and will be based out of our new Income Generation Head Office which is at Clifton Moor, York, YO30 4TU. The salary for this role is £14,911.80 per annum pro rata.
