About Our Client:
Our client is a bright and active 13-year-old girl living with her parents and older brother. She has ADHD, ASD, and an acquired brain injury. She is a ball of energy, direct, and speaks her mind. She takes things literally and is very black and white in her thinking, so clear communication and consistency are key. She responds to someone who is chirpy, motivating, and leads by example rather than simply asking her to do things.
She loves horse riding, swimming, bike riding, and baking. The role will involve supporting her to access these and other activities in the community. The family have a beloved pet cat, so a love of animals is a must.
Your main responsibilities will include:
- Providing 1:1 support at home and in the community
- Assisting with personal care, including verbal prompting, encouraging independence and assisting when needed
- Encouraging and modelling independence and life skills such as using public transport, ordering in cafes, and managing a budget
- Assisting with light household tasks including tidying, laundry, cooking and general upkeep of her living space
- Activities to be planned in advanced, not newly sprung on her as this causes anxiety
- Driving her to appointments and community activities, in your own vehicle
- Completing accurate and timely record keeping
- Working collaboratively with the wider support team including the speech and language therapist and personal trainer
- Setting and maintaining boundaries and consistency
Candidate Requirements:
Essential:
- Female applicants only (required due to personal care needs)
- Experience working with children
- Experience supporting clients with autism
- Full UK driving licence with access to your own vehicle
- Firm but friendly, able to set boundaries without overriding her autonomy
- Able to communicate clearly and effectively
Preferred:
- Experience supporting someone with a brain injury, learning disabilities or complex care
Application Process:
This role is restricted to female applicants only. Under Schedule 9, Paragraph 1 of the Equality Act 2010, being female is a genuine occupational requirement for this role due to the intimate personal care needs of our client.
We invite interested candidates to apply. We are committed to inclusive and respectful recruitment. Shortlisted candidates may have an informal meeting with the client in a relaxed setting to ensure compatibility.
Note: We adhere to SAFE hiring practices, ensuring the welfare of vulnerable individuals. An enhanced criminal record check will be conducted.
Pay: £17.00-£19.00 per hour
