Job Title: Alternative Education Trainer Coach - Equine and Animal Care
Hours of Work: 37.5 hours p/w
Salary: £26,000.00 - £33,000.00 per annum

Summary of Role:
Purpose of Job / Company Values
To deliver high-quality alternative education and apprenticeship programmes in Equine Studies, Animal Care, and Independence Skills, supporting learners throughout their full learning journey. The role holder is responsible for driving learner progress, ensuring high standards of delivery, maintaining compliance with all regulatory requirements, and building effective relationships with learners, placements, employers, and internal teams. This role also upholds and promotes Haddon Training’s core values of honesty, integrity, positivity, and respect.
Key Responsibilities / Accountabilities
Learner Journey and Progress
- Manage and support the full learner journey from induction, and initial assessment through to successful completion of their qualification.
- Monitor learner engagement, attendance, progress, and achievement, taking timely action where learners are at risk of falling behind.
- Provide tailored coaching, assessment, mentoring, and pastoral support, particularly for learners with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND).
Teaching, Learning and Assessment
- Plan, deliver, and facilitate engaging, high-quality teaching, learning, and assessment in Equine and Animal Care, using a blended approach that includes face-to-face delivery at partner placement sites and remote learning methods.
- Embed and deliver Functional Skills English and Maths within vocational delivery where required.
- Adapt delivery approaches to meet individual learner needs and learning styles.
Quality and Compliance
- Complete all mandatory documentation accurately and on time to an auditable standard.
- Ensure delivery meets awarding body, Ofsted, funding, safeguarding, PREVENT, and British Values requirements.
- Work closely with the Internal Quality Assurer (IQA) to continuously improve quality of teaching and assessment.
Stakeholder and Relationship Management
- Build and maintain strong working relationships with learners, employers, placements, and delivery partners.
- Act as a professional ambassador for Haddon Training when engaging with external stakeholders.
- Communicate effectively with the Commercial Operations Lead and internal teams regarding learner progress, risks, and achievements.
Professional Practice
- Maintain occupational competence through continuous professional development (CPD).
- Model safe working practices in equine and animal care environments, ensuring learner safety at all times.
- Demonstrate professionalism, confidentiality, and ethical behaviour in all aspects of the role.
Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)
The role holder will be measured against:
- Learner retention, progress, and achievement rates
- Quality of teaching, learning, and assessment outcomes
- Accuracy and timeliness of learner documentation
- Compliance with regulatory and quality standards
- Learner, placement and employer feedback
Essential Criteria
Experience
· Current and relevant experience within the equine and animal care sector.
· Experience of teaching and supporting learners with SEND.
· Experience delivering maths and English to Level 1 or above.
· Experience working within quality assurance and regulatory frameworks.
Qualifications
· Level 3 (or above) qualification in Equine or Animal Care (or willingness and ability to achieve during probation).
· Level 2 Functional Skills in English and maths (or willingness and ability to achieve during probation).
- Full UK Driving Licence with Business Cover Insurance (A copy of your insurance will be requested upon offer)

Desirable Criteria
· Assessor qualification (A1/A2/D32/D33/TAQA or equivalent).
· Teaching qualification (PTTLS or Level 3/4 Education and Training).
· SEND-related qualifications.
Experience of assessment marking and grading.
