About GRS Recovery
GRS Recovery is a well-established vehicle recovery and commercial repair specialist based in Bournemouth. We provide round-the-clock recovery, breakdown assistance and workshop services to motorists, fleet operators, insurers and the haulage industry across Dorset and the surrounding region. As we continue to grow, we're looking for a skilled Commercial Vehicle Technician to join our friendly, hard-working workshop team.
The Role
Working from our fully equipped Bournemouth workshop, you'll carry out servicing, diagnostics and repairs on a wide variety of commercial vehicles — from light commercials and recovery trucks through to HGVs, trailers and PSVs. You'll work on a varied mix of jobs, no two days the same, with the support of an experienced team and modern facilities.
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out scheduled servicing, 6 weekly inspections and MOT preparation on commercial vehicles
- Diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, air brake and pneumatic faults
- Complete repairs on engines, gearboxes, drivelines, brakes, suspension and steering systems
- Maintain GRS Recovery's own fleet of recovery vehicles and equipment to a high standard
- Accurately complete job sheets, defect reports and service records
- Work safely, tidily and in line with workshop and Health & Safety procedures
What We're Looking For
- Time-served Commercial Vehicle / HGV Technician with relevant NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent experience)
- Strong fault-finding and diagnostic ability across mechanical and electrical systems
- Confident working on a wide range of commercial vehicles and recovery equipment
- Full UK driving licence essential; HGV (Class 2 or C+E) licence an advantage — or willingness to obtain
- Tachograph / DVSA inspection knowledge desirable
- Reliable, self-motivated and able to work both independently and as part of a team
