Job Summary
We are seeking a talented and experienced Chef to join a new venture beginning in July. The successful candidate will be responsible for running a busy kitchen, serving brunch and lunch Wednesday - Sunday and will have significant input on the opening menu. This a great opportunity to develop and grow with the company, working alongside an experienced front of house team to deliver excellent quality to the customer.
Who are we?
You wont find us on social media until June but we are Artemis, a Neighbourhood Café & Bar in Colwyn Bay and run by a crew of front of house veterans. We are going to be serving a menu of brunch and lunch alongside great specialty coffee in the day and a great range of cocktails, beer, wine & charcuterie in the evening. We will be opening in early July and will be looking to stage interviews in June.
What we can offer you?
- Great Work Life Balance: Exact hours will depend on the candidate but will roughly equate to 9am-3pm Wed-Sat and 10am-4pm Sunday with flexibility around school runs if needed.

Who are we looking for?
The Essentials: The candidate will run the kitchen for all intensive purposes, reporting to the managing director, so will need to have a certain amount of experience but if you haven't quite got the list checked wed still love to hear from you and will try to give as much feedback as possible.
- Kitchen Service 1 Year (2 years preferred): The candidate needs to have experience cooking in a fast paced environment, ideally handling ticketed orders quickly.
- People Skills: We are looking for someone who can communicate well under pressure and get out from behind the pass if needed. Were a small neighbourhood joint and don't want a key player to be hidden away all day.
- HACCP/COSHH/Allergen Awareness: The candidate needs at least a level 2 in food hygiene and a good knowledge of COSHH and Allergen awareness. We are targeting 5 stars and the chef will be directly responsible for kitchen hygiene management.
- The Attitude: We want someone that wants to help us grow and improve as well as someone eager to create and suggest ideas.
- References: We need at least 1 reference from an ex employer we can phone and talk to, this can be done at any stage the candidate is comfortable with.
The Good to Haves:
- Brunch Experience: If you know your way around an egg already your half way there.
- Pastry! we'd love to bake as much as possible in house, especially bread, so any experience or passion for baking will be great.
- Menu creation experience would be instrumental in helping us start.
- Any experience in Sunday Lunch service and prep as well be opening Sundays and want that in our wheelhouse.
- Any kind of management experience, experience running a kitchen solo or keyholder experience.
- Extra qualifications or experience in the hospitality industry, especially front of house.
- 2+ professional references from employers/tutors etc.
