Research Technician (LMS 2499)
Salary £31,916 - £33,910 plus London allowance £5,600 per annum
12 months fixed term | Full time | Location: Hammersmith London

Main duties / key responsibilities:
- Maintain worm cultures of wildtype and disease model strains
- Perform tracking experiments to study the behaviour of wild type and disease worms in response to drugs
Assist with lab management

Education / Qualifications / Training required (will be assessed from application form):
Essential:
BSc or equivalent qualification in biological sciences
Desirable:
Previous work experience required (will be assessed from application form and at interview):
Essential:
Basic laboratory procedures including molecular biology
Desirable:
- C. elegans husbandry including maintaining worm strains, freezing, and crosses
- Experience with behavioural assays
- Microscopy/imaging of worms
- Experience with worm transgenesis
Experience with quantitative data analysis

Essential:
- Knowledge and understanding of cell and/or molecular biology
- Keen interest in developing skills and experimental methods in worm biology
Good written communication skills in English

- Knowledge of good laboratory practice

Evidence of ability to organise and conduct research projects

Ability and eagerness to learn new concepts and acquire new skills in biology quickly, and to seek novel and creative solutions to scientific problems
