Equine and Farm Animal Veterinary Surgeon - Dundee
True work life balance. Varied caseload. Real support to grow your career.
If you're ready for variety without burnout
If you love equine and farm work but feel stretched by relentless on call or unsupported in complex cases, this could be the reset you have been looking for.
The Opportunity
We are working with a well established mixed practice in Dundee that has built something many vets say they want, but rarely find. A genuinely supportive equine and farm team where the workload is shared, your development is taken seriously, and your time outside work is protected.
This is a full time role with a varied caseload across equine, farm and smallholder work. You will be joining an experienced team that enjoys what they do and looks out for each other. Whether you are newly qualified or bring years of experience, you will be supported to find your rhythm and grow into the role with confidence.
Success here is not about rushing through cases. It is about building relationships with clients, delivering solid clinical care, and having the headspace to keep improving.
Why This Role Is Different
A rota that respects your life outside work
Protected time off after night on call, a half day every week, and a Monday off after a weekend on call. This is structured, predictable balance, not just a promise.
Proper clinical support and safety
Out of hours phone support and a lone worker safety system in place, so you are never truly on your own when it matters.
Equipment that matches your ambition
Mobile digital X ray, equine ultrasound, respiratory scope, fertility testing kits, and in house lab facilities. Plus on site stabling and stocks at multiple locations.
Access to expertise without unnecessary referrals
Regular visiting specialists mean you can manage more cases in house, learn from others, and develop your own clinical interests.
A location that gives you breathing room
From coastal living in Dundee to the Cairngorms, Angus Glens and Perthshire on your doorstep. Whether you recharge through hiking, riding or simply space and quiet, it is all within easy reach.
Your Journey Here
In Your First Month
You will focus on settling into the team, understanding how the rota works, and getting familiar with the client base and equipment. There is time built in to ask questions and find your feet.
By Three Months
You will be confidently managing a varied caseload across equine and farm work, contributing to team discussions, and starting to shape your clinical interests with CPD in mind.
By Six Months
You will feel like a core part of the team. You may be pursuing further qualifications, taking on more complex cases, and helping influence how the service develops.
