The Opportunity
As we continue to grow, we are looking for a Strategic Buyer to join our Supply Chain team in Plymouth.
This is a fantastic opportunity for a proactive and commercially minded procurement professional to take ownership of key commodities and make a real impact on cost, quality, and supplier performance.
As a Strategic Buyer, you will lead sourcing and procurement activities for assigned commodities, ensuring optimal supplier performance, cost efficiency, and supply continuity.
You will work closely with internal stakeholders and global teams, playing a key role in both day-to-day operations and new product development.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage direct material commodities and supplier performance
- Negotiate pricing, contracts, and lead times
- Identify and onboard new suppliers where required
- Build and maintain strong supplier relationships
- Support New Product Development (NPD) activities
- Implement supplier risk management strategies, including dual sourcing
- Work collaboratively with Production, Engineering, and Quality teams
Qualifications & Experience

- Demonstrable experience in a Buyer or Procurement role
- Confident in negotiation and supplier management
- Commercially aware and solutions-focused
- Highly organised with strong attention to detail
- Comfortable working cross-functionally in a fast-paced environment
- Degree qualified (desirable)
- CIPS Level 4 (or willingness to work towards it)
- Experience using MRP/ERP systems (SAP desirable)
- Strong Excel and Microsoft Office skills
