Overview
We are seeking a professional HGV Class 1 Driver to join our logistics team. The successful candidate will be responsible for safely operating large commercial vehicles, primarily flatbed lorries, to deliver goods efficiently and reliably. This role offers an excellent opportunity for experienced drivers to utilise their skills within a dynamic and supportive environment, ensuring timely deliveries across various locations.
There is no manual handling
Duties
- Safely operate HGV Class 1 vehicles, including flatbed lorries, adhering to all road safety regulations and company policies
- Conduct pre-journey checks on the vehicle to ensure it is in optimal condition before departure
- Load and secure cargo on flatbeds, ensuring proper weight distribution and safety during transit
- Complete all necessary documentation accurately, including delivery notes and vehicle logs
- Follow planned routes using GPS and other navigational tools, adjusting as necessary for traffic or roadworks
- Maintain communication with the logistics team regarding delivery schedules and any issues encountered during transit
- Assist with unloading goods at delivery points when required, ensuring items are handled with care
Skills
- Proven experience in commercial driving, particularly with flatbed loads and delivery routes
- Strong knowledge of UK road laws and safety regulations pertaining to large vehicle operation
- Excellent driving skills with a clean driving licence for HGV Class 1 vehicles
- Ability to handle physical tasks associated with loading and securing cargo on flatbeds
- Good organisational skills to manage schedules efficiently and complete paperwork accurately
- Reliable, punctual, and able to work independently or as part of a team
- Previous experience as a delivery driver is advantageous but not essential; training will be provided where necessary
