Senior Solar Sales Manager, NI
While residential is already performing well, commercial is where the real growth lies, and that’s where you’d come in.
An established, financially strong business in Northern Ireland is looking for someone to grow its commercial solar PV sales, while acting as player manager for its residential sales team.
The starting point
Residential is performing well, with steady conversion and nothing that needs urgent attention. Commercial is a different story: there’s an existing base of customers and enquiries coming in from marketing, and you’d be the one shaping that into a structured, repeatable sales process.
What you’d be doing
- Building a commercial sales strategy and pipeline across SME, agricultural, industrial and public sector solar PV: outreach, tenders and referral partnerships.
- Carrying out site surveys yourself, then pricing the job and writing up the proposal.
- Negotiating and closing commercial deals.
- Managing and developing the residential sales team: targets, KPIs, pipeline reviews, lead handling, quoting consistency.
- Feeding into product, supply chain and wider commercial strategy as the division grows.
- Reporting directly to the MD.
What you’d need
- A track record of winning and closing sales at commercial scale, whether in solar PV, EV infrastructure, or another B2B environment. If you’re currently selling residential solar but closed commercial deals earlier in your career, that counts too.
- A solid grip on commercial solar economics: ROI/payback modelling, CapEx vs PPA, energy consumption analysis.
- Experience managing or mentoring a sales team, with the credibility to lead one that’s already in place.
- Full UK driving licence.
Useful but not essential: knowledge of the NI grid connection process (NIE Networks), public sector tendering, battery storage or EV charging, or a structured sales approach built around a CRM.
What’s on offer
This is more than a sales role. You'll have genuine influence over the future direction of the solar division, including commercial strategy, product development and supply chain decisions.
Competitive base salary, car/allowance and uncapped commission, with more autonomy than you’d get managing someone else’s already established commercial book. The business behind the role is financially strong and has been trading in NI for well over a decade, with commercial as the newer part that’s now growing quickly, and whoever takes this on will have real scope to shape where it goes next.
