At Majestic, we are the UK’s largest specialist wine retailer, but we are so much more than just a wine shop. We are a team of passionate, customer-focused individuals who love what we do. As we continue to grow, expand our store estate, and optimise our supply chain, we need commercial finance minds to help steer the ship.
We don't just look at spreadsheets; we partner with the business to make real things happen. If you want a role where your insights directly influence store performance and logistics efficiency (and yes, where you can learn a lot more about wine!), this is it.
Role Purpose
As our Finance Business Partner for Retail Operations & Logistics, you will be the crucial bridge between our finance team, our regional store operations leaders, and our primary Distribution Centre (DC). You won't just report on the numbers—you’ll get out into the business to understand the story behind them.
Importantly, you will act as the primary financial co-pilot to both our Store Operations Director and our Supply Chain Director. You will provide them with the strategic insight, data-backed challenge, and financial clarity they need to optimize their respective areas and drive business growth.
Job specifics:
Contract: Permanent
Location: Watford - From Watford Junction, we are a 15-minute walk to our Head Office*
Reports to: Finance Director
We are proud to offer an Agile Working Policy for Head Office colleagues; a blend of office and remote working which will include 3 days working at the Majestic Office each week.
Key Responsibilities
- Uncorking DC Costs: You will get right under the skin of our Distribution Centre costs. From warehouse efficiencies to freight and supply chain logistics, you’ll dig deep into the data to identify waste, highlight trends, and drive cost-saving initiatives across P&L lines.
- Fuelling Growth (New Store Business Cases): Majestic is growing! You will collaborate with the property and retail teams to build financial models, tools, and robust business cases for new store openings. You'll also critically track their performance post-launch to ensure we hit our ROI targets.
- Retail Performance & Turnaround: You’ll monitor store-by-store performance, identifying units falling short of target. Working hand-in-hand to educate and upskill retail managers, you'll develop data-driven turnaround plans to get underperforming stores back to peak profitability.
- Budgets, Forecasts & Strategy: Own the budgeting and forecasting cycles for both Store Operations and the DC. You will ensure total alignment with business priorities and provide clear, agile variance analysis to directors.
Core Technical Duties
- Reporting & Insights: Develop and deliver insightful monthly reporting packs complete with commentary, trend analysis, and proactive commercial recommendations.
- Data & Systems: Collaborate with the wider finance team to ensure data accuracy between commercial and management reporting, while driving continuous improvement of reporting tools (e.g., building and maintaining Power BI dashboards).
- Scenario Planning: Support broader investment decisions and scenario planning, including pricing changes, supplier terms, and campaign planning.
Key Skills & Attributes
You are a commercially-minded financial professional who loves getting away from your desk to talk to operational teams. You can translate complex financial data into plain English for store managers and logistics leaders alike.
