Job Title: IT Support & Quality Assurance Engineer
Working hours: 37.5 hours per week
Salary range: £38000.00 to £43,000.00 per year
Overview
To lead the IT support and service operations team while establishing and maintaining strong quality assurance and testing practices for software systems, applications, and infrastructure. The role ensures high service availability, rapid incident resolution, robust testing of new releases, and continuous improvement in IT delivery and user satisfaction.
Key Duties & Responsibilities
- Undertake the testing of software and systems for errors.
- Identify source of problems and proposes solutions.
- Develop, implement, and document test plans for IT software systems.
- Develop quality standards and validation techniques.
- Make recommendations concerning software/system quality.
- Support QA teams in managing incident, request, and escalation handling.
- Manage service desk operations, monitor SLAs, and manage vendor escalations.
- Serve as the technical escalation point for complex issues and ensure timely resolution with post-incident reviews.
- Identify automation opportunities to enhance testing, monitoring, and support efficiency.
- Provide management with reports on uptime, QA metrics, SLAs, and service improvements.
- Ensure compliance with GDPR, IT security, and audit requirements.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to validate releases and manage system upgrades.
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field (or equivalent experience).
- 2+ years of experience in software testing or quality assurance or IT sector.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Strong communication and collaboration abilities.
Preferred Skills
- Experience with test automation frameworks (e.g., Selenium, Cypress, Playwright).
- Familiarity with API testing tools (e.g., Postman, SoapUI).
- Knowledge of performance/load testing tools (e.g., JMeter, LoadRunner).
- Basic understanding of SQL for database validation.
