Birkin Group are currently recruiting for a Cleaning Operative to support the Lower Thames Crossing project. This is a mobile role covering 3 sites across the project area.
Location: Grays and surrounding Lower Thames Crossing project sites
Requirement: A full UK driving licence is essential for this role
Contract Type: 6-Month Fixed-Term Contract (FTC)
Shift Pattern: Monday to Friday, 07:00 – 17:00 with a 1-hour unpaid break.
Cleaning experience is preferred; however, full training will be provided. We are looking for reliable, proactive individuals with good communication skills who can work independently as well as part of a team to maintain high standards of cleanliness across multiple sites.
Responsibilities:
- Carry out general cleaning duties to a high standard across designated areas on multiple sites
- Clean and maintain offices, meeting rooms, canteens, welfare facilities, washrooms, showers, laboratories and communal areas as required
- Vacuum, mop, dust and damp wipe surfaces
- Empty waste bins and ensure correct disposal of waste
- Clean and sanitise washroom and kitchen facilities
- Replenish consumables including soap, toilet rolls and paper products
- Undertake periodic deep cleaning tasks as directed by management
- Operate cleaning equipment safely and effectively
- Report stock shortages, maintenance issues or equipment defects to management
- Follow all Health & Safety, COSHH, safeguarding and company procedures
- Wear appropriate uniform and PPE at all times
- Maintain site security by following opening and locking-up procedures where required
Requirements:
- Previous cleaning experience preferred but not essential
- Good understanding of high cleaning standards
- Strong attention to detail and organisational skills
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
- Good communication and interpersonal skills
- Reliable, trustworthy and able to maintain confidentiality
- Flexible approach to work, including occasional evenings, weekends and bank holidays if required
- Full UK driving licence is essential (mobile role covering 3 sites)
- Knowledge of COSHH and Health & Safety procedures would be advantageous
