An exciting opportunity has arisen for an Occupational Therapy Assistant Practitioner to join the Newcastle East/ West Community Treatment team for 12 months.

The service provides specialist mental health assessment and intervention for adults with complex and enduring mental health problems.
You will work within a multi-disciplinary team under the supervision of an Occupational Therapist and carry out client-centred therapeutic interventions in order to enhance occupational performance and participation. You will work with both individuals and groups, with service users and their families.
The service is based between Benton House and Silverdale but a large part of your work will be in community settings such as peoples own homes and in the local community.
The Occupational Therapists and Assistant Practitioners work closely together to carry out therapy directed work, meaningful activities, and accessing local community to build skills. The Assistant Practitioners will have a level of autonomy, with regular clinical and management supervision.
You will assist the therapist to engage service users to identify their skills and abilities; plan therapy and intervention activities, and deliver 1:1 and group interventions. You will also monitoring their progress and making minor adaptations as required within sessions.
You will also run psychoeducation courses on a range of topics and will need to be confident to run groups. Being comfortable using technology will be essential in this post and you must be able to meet the geographical requirements of the post.
