We are currently seeking a skilled and reliable Class One Driver to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for operating both a Class 1 units and a tug units, ensuring the safe and efficient movement of trailers within a busy distribution hub.
Key Accountabilities
- Safely operate a tug unit with 40ft and 44ft trailers for onsite shunting and trailer movement.
- Transport trailers to and from Pallet-Track hubs and lorry parks, following all road and transport regulations.
- Conduct pre-shift safety checks on Class 1 units and trailers, ensuring all necessary documentation is completed.
- Secure loads by ensuring safety straps/nets are utilised as required.
- Safely couple and de-couple trailers, following correct procedures.
- Park trailers in the yard when not in use and ensure all trailer movements are well documented.
- Report any trailer damage or safety concerns to night management at the end of your shift.
- Notify night management regarding any faults or repairs required to maintain safe travel.
- Adhere to driving hours, breaks, and CPC requirements, ensuring compliance with all relevant regulations.
- Observe site rules at all Pallet-Track sites to ensure safety and efficiency.
- Other duties as required, such as scanning, once trailers are in position.
Skills and Experience Required
- Valid Class 1 license and CPC qualification.
- Experience operating Class 1 units and tug units (preferably with curtain side trailers).
- Knowledge of safety protocols, secure loading, and health & safety procedures.
- Strong attention to detail and the ability to work in a busy, fast-paced environment.
- Excellent communication skills to report any issues and work as part of a team
