About the Role
We are seeking an experienced and qualified Transport Manager to lead and develop our transport operation. As the company's nominated and accredited Transport Manager, you will be responsible for ensuring full compliance with Operator Licence obligations, DVSA requirements, transport legislation, and company policies, while delivering a safe, efficient, and cost-effective transport service.

Key Responsibilities
Transport Operations
- Manage and oversee all transport activities, ensuring safe, efficient, and compliant operations.
- Plan and coordinate daily transport activities, route planning, vehicle utilisation, and resource allocation.
- Manage relationships with customers, pallet networks, subcontractors, and third-party transport providers.
- Support the onboarding of new customers and contribute to overall operational performance.
Compliance & Fleet Management
- Act as the company's nominated Transport Manager and ensure full Operator Licence compliance.
- Ensure compliance with Drivers' Hours, Working Time Directive, tachograph regulations, and all transport legislation.
- Maintain accurate compliance records for vehicles, drivers, and transport operations.
- Manage vehicle maintenance, servicing, inspections, annual tests, and statutory examinations.
- Ensure all vehicles and trailers remain safe, legal, and roadworthy at all times.
- Support audits, inspections, and regulatory reviews.
Driver Management
- Ensure all drivers hold valid licences, DQCs, and relevant qualifications.
- Monitor driver performance, compliance, and training requirements.
- Manage driver schedules, holiday cover, sickness absence, and operational resource planning.
- Promote high standards of safety, professionalism, and customer service.
Health, Safety & Continuous Improvement
- Drive a positive safety culture across the transport operation.
- Investigate incidents, accidents, and near misses, implementing corrective actions where required.
- Identify and implement improvements to efficiency, compliance, customer service, and cost control.
- Produce operational and compliance reports for senior management.
About You
Essential
- Transport Manager with National and International CPC qualification and relevant management experience.
- Proven experience managing transport and distribution operations.
- Strong knowledge of Operator Licence compliance, DVSA requirements, and transport legislation.
- Experience within pallet network operations.
- Excellent leadership, communication, planning, and organisational skills.
- Strong commercial awareness and budget management experience.
- Sound knowledge of Health & Safety legislation and risk management.
Desirable
- International Operations Experience.
- Knowledge of transport management and fleet management systems.
- Experience driving continuous improvement and operational development initiatives.

Your normal hours of work are 47.5 hours per week Monday to Friday. Your working hours will typically fall between 8.00 am and 5.30pm.
Salary £40,000 -£60,000 dependant on experience.
