About Us :
The Room Leader at Maryam's Nursery is responsible for leading a designated room, ensuring high standards of care, education, and development in line with the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS), Statutory Framework, and Ofsted guidance. The Room Leader will oversee the daily running of the room, manage and support staff, and create a stimulating and safe environment that meets the needs of all children.
Key Responsibilities:
Leadership and Management:
- Lead and manage the room team, providing clear guidance and support to ensure high standards of practice and professionalism.
- Plan and implement a rich, varied, and developmentally appropriate curriculum that aligns with the EYFS framework and supports children’s individual needs and interests.
- Ensure that the room is well-organised and resourced to create a stimulating learning environment.
- Conduct regular staff meetings and briefings to ensure effective communication and teamwork.
- Supervise and support staff, including conducting performance appraisals, mentoring, and identifying training needs.
Curriculum Planning and Implementation:
- Develop and deliver engaging and effective learning activities in line with the EYFS framework and the nursery’s curriculum.
- Monitor and assess children’s progress, using observations and assessments to inform planning and provide tailored support.
- Ensure that all activities are inclusive and cater to the diverse needs of all children in the room.
- Promote and encourage the characteristics of effective learning, including play, exploration, and critical thinking.
Safeguarding and Child Protection:
- Ensure that safeguarding procedures and policies are followed, including reporting any concerns to the Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL).
- Create a safe and secure environment for children, ensuring that all health and safety guidelines are adhered to.
- Maintain confidentiality and professionalism when dealing with sensitive information and safeguarding concerns.
Parent Partnership and Communication:
- Build and maintain positive relationships with parents and carers,providing regular updates on their child’s progress and development.
- Organise and lead parent meetings, including consultations and progress reviews.
- Address any concerns or issues raised by parents in a professional and constructive manner.
Health, Safety, and Welfare:
- Oversee the daily health and safety checks in the room, ensuring that all equipment and resources are safe and in good condition.
- Implement and adhere to nursery policies and procedures regarding hygiene, food safety, and emergency procedures.
- Manage children’s health and medical needs in line with nursery policies and parental instructions.
Administrative and Operational Duties:
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of children’s development, including observations, assessments, and planning documentation.
- Ensure that all administrative tasks related to the room are completed promptly and accurately, including attendance registers and incident reports.
- Support the Nursery Manager and Deputy Manager in any additional administrative duties as required.
Professional Development:
- Participate in ongoing training and professional development opportunities to stay up-to-date with changes in early years education and best practices.
- Reflect on practice and contribute to the continuous improvement of the nursery’s provision.
Person Specification:
Qualifications and Experience:
- Minimum Level 3 qualification in Early Years Education (Level 5 or above is desirable).
- Proven experience working in an early years setting, with experience in a leadership or senior role preferred.
- Comprehensive knowledge of the EYFS framework, statutory requirements, and Ofsted guidance.
- Paediatric First Aid and Safeguarding qualifications or a willingness to obtain these.
Skills and Competencies:
- Strong leadership and management skills, with the ability to motivate and support a team.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to build positive relationships with children, parents, and colleagues.
- Organised and able to manage time effectively, with strong attention to detail.
- A passionate commitment to providing high-quality care and education to young children.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team, demonstrating flexibility and adaptability.
Key Performance Indicators (KPIs):
- High-quality provision of care and education in line with the EYFS framework and Ofsted standards.
- Positive feedback from parents, children, and colleagues.
- Effective management and development of room staff, including successful completion of performance appraisals and training.
- Accurate and timely completion of administrative tasks and record-keeping.
- Positive outcomes in internal and external audits, including Ofsted inspections.

Pay: £28,080.00-£30,830.00 per year
