Now Education are currently working closely with a SEMH and Behavioural School in Leicester to help them secure a Primary Teacher for the Autumn Term 2026-2027.
Autumn Term (August – December)
We are seeking an experienced, resilient and highly motivated Primary Teacher to join a dedicated team, supporting pupils with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, many of whom also have Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD).
This is a rewarding opportunity for a practitioner who thrives in a structured, therapeutic environment and is passionate about supporting some of the most vulnerable learners to re-engage with education.
The Role
- Full responsibility for a small class group of 8 students, supported by two Teaching Assistants
- Planning, delivery and assessment of a differentiated, engaging primary curriculum
- Supporting pupils with a range of SEMH needs and ASD, including those with complex behaviours
- Creating a calm, structured and nurturing classroom environment
- Implementing behaviour support strategies and contributing to individual support plans
The Ideal Candidate Will:
- Have strong experience working with pupils with ASD
- Bring experience supporting children with SEMH needs, ideally within a PRU or specialist setting
- Be confident leading a class independently while effectively deploying and working alongside support staff
- Demonstrate the ability to plan, assess and organise learning with minimal direction
- Be proactive, adaptable and able to “hit the ground running”
- Hold high expectations for behaviour, engagement and pupil progress
- Take a nurturing, calm and relationship-focused approach to teaching
- Show resilience, consistency and strong behaviour management skills
- Be comfortable working within a therapeutic and structured provision
