About the Role: A warm, inclusive, and nurturing independent special school in Exeter is seeking a passionate and dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant to join its team. The school caters to pupils aged 7–19 with a range of special educational needs, including autism spectrum conditions (ASC), social, emotional and mental health (SEMH) needs, and associated learning difficulties. Staff work closely with students and families to provide highly personalised support that enables each learner to thrive both academically and emotionally.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide one-to-one and small group support to students with SEN
- Assist in the implementation of EHCP targets and individual behaviour plans
- Support teaching staff in delivering creative and engaging lessons
- Foster a safe, supportive, and inclusive learning environment
- Help students to develop their social and emotional skills
- Monitor progress and report observations to relevant staff
What We’re Looking For:
- Experience working with children or people with SEN, especially ASC or SEMH
- Patience, empathy, and strong communication skills
- A proactive and flexible approach to supporting learning
- Ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team
- Relevant qualifications (e.g., CACHE Level 2/3, or equivalent) are desirable but not essential
