Swift Temps are recruiting on behalf of a well-established structural steel business based in Buckley for an experienced Fabricator / Plater Welder to join their workshop team.
This is a hands-on fabrication role working with structural steel from technical drawings through to completed assemblies. The ideal candidate will be confident working independently, reading engineering drawings, and carrying out fabrication and welding duties to a high standard.
The role would suit someone from a structural steel, heavy fabrication, or engineering background who takes pride in quality workmanship and enjoys working within a busy fabrication environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Carrying out all stages of fabrication from engineering drawing through to completed product
- Reading and interpreting technical and fabrication drawings
- Marking out, cutting, tacking, fitting, and welding structural steel components
- Working to fabrication tolerances and quality standards
- Supporting the wider fabrication team to ensure production deadlines are achieved
- Operating workshop equipment and machinery safely
- Using overhead gantry cranes where required (training/experience beneficial)
- Completing quality checks and ensuring all work meets required standards
- Maintaining a clean, safe, and organised workshop environment
- Carrying out daily equipment and safety checks prior to use
What We’re Looking For
- Previous experience as a Fabricator, Plater Welder, or Steel Fabricator
- Ability to read and work from engineering drawings independently
- MIG welding and heavy fabrication experience
- Experience working with structural steel
- Good attention to detail and pride in quality workmanship
- Reliable with a strong work ethic and team-focused attitude
Desirable Experience
- Experience operating overhead gantry cranes
- Structural steel or architectural steelwork background
- Relevant fabrication or welding qualifications
