About Our Team
The Finance Transaction Team supports the Calico Group by providing an effective transaction handling service to both Operational and Corporate Accounting teams. The Team ensures that incoming invoices are processed accurately and payments for goods and services are made on a timely basis. The Transactions team ensures that all credit and debit balances are posted on our housing system to show correct balances and all benefits have been applied for our customers.
Finance Administration works as part of the wider Finance and Group Business Service Team supporting our businesses and charities to make a real difference to people’s lives.
The Opportunity
As a Transactions Officer, you will play a key role in ensuring accurate and timely processing of financial transactions, directly supporting the smooth running of our services and making a real difference to our customers and communities. In this role, you will be part of a collaborative finance team dedicated to delivering excellent service in line with Calico’s mission to make a lasting, positive impact. A typical day will see you managing supplier invoices, processing payments, maintaining accurate records, and producing reports that help stakeholders make informed decisions. You’ll liaise with colleagues across the business to resolve queries, support efficient operations, and contribute to continuous improvements that benefit both our team and the communities we serve.

What we are looking for
We’re looking for a passionate Transactions Officer to join our dynamic team at Centenary Court, Croft Street, Burnley, BB11 2ED.
In this role, you’ll be at the heart of our financial operations, ensuring the accurate and timely processing of invoices, payments, and receipts. You’ll help to maintain strong supplier relationships, support the delivery of month-end and year-end processes, and provide exceptional service to both internal teams and external stakeholders. This is an office-based role, with the option to work from home one day a week once the probationary period has been successfully completed. Your work will directly contribute to the smooth running of our organisation, enabling us to continue making a positive difference in the communities we serve.
Essential:
- GCSEs at grade C or above (or equivalent) in English and Maths.
- Previous office or administration experience, or related study.
- Experience of regular telephone, written, and face-to-face contact with customers and internal stakeholders.
- Experience using IT systems, including Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
- Proficiency in using Excel to solve simple analytical problems and ability to use accounting software applications for administration purposes.
- Confident phone manner with excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Strong attention to detail and a high level of accuracy.
- Ability to work under pressure and prioritise workloads to meet deadlines.
- Problem-solving skills, including the ability to investigate and reconcile discrepancies effectively
Desirable:
- Any further studying in a related field and/or professional accreditation.
- Knowledge of accounting principles and VAT regulations.
- Experience working in a high-volume administrative processing environment.
- Understanding of relevant IT systems, such as Open Accounts and Active H.
- Understanding of accounting processes within the purchase and sales ledger.
- Experience working in the housing, not-for-profit, or public sector.
- Knowledge of CIS (Construction Industry Scheme) or utility billing processes.
- Familiarity with financial controls, reconciliations, and audit requirements.
- Experience with supplier onboarding and managing purchase order processes.
