Job Overview
We are seeking a Senior Early Years Practitioner to join our team. As part of the Senior Management team you will work across all three rooms in nursery to provide support to Room Supervisors and their staff teams.
The ideal candidate will have a strong background in early childhood education and a genuine love for working with young children. This role involves having a good working knowledge of the EYFS and OFTSED requirements. A level 5 in Early years would be ideal, however we would consider applicants who are committed to achieving as level 5 as part of their CPD. A full and relevant level 3 qualification in Early years is essential.
Little Oaks Nursery is a Not for Profit charity run nursery. This means we can re-invest any profit back into the nursery ensuring that we can meet children's needs though providing adequate staffing and staff training and each room is provided with a budget to purchase their own resources.
Roles and responsibilities
Childcare and Education
· To provide support throughout the nursery working across all rooms to enhance provision and promote collaborative working partnerships.
· To support the management team in maintaining high standards of quality within the nursery in respect of the environment, resources and experiences offered to children.
· To support the management team in ensuring that practice and provision in the nursery meets the requirements of the Early Years Foundation Stage.
· Ensure that children are kept safe, and that staff understand and follow safeguarding procedures in line with the LSCP and undertaking DSL training.
· To help create and maintain a culture of self-evaluation and reflective practice.
Health and Safety
- Support the Management team in the day-to-day operation in order to ensure the health and safety of the children, their parents, carers, the team and any visitors to the nursery.
- Adhere to all health and safety policy and procedures.
- Be fully aware of all emergency and security procedures.
Operational
· To provide cover for the Assistant Manager and Room Supervisors as and when required.
· To support the Assistant Manager and Room Supervisors in the day to day organisation of the rooms to ensure staffing levels and ratios are maintained at all times.
· Support the Senior Management team and staff during inspections by regulatory bodies and assist in the implementation of any recommendations.
Staff
- To monitor and supervise practice of other practitioners in the setting under the direction of the Manager and Assistant Manager.
- To role model excellent practice and support
- To support the Assistant Manager to manage student placements, acting as mentor as necessary, and liaising with colleges and universities.
- Develop open and positive working relationships with staff.
General
- Assist the Senior Management team with administrative duties associated with the management of the nursery, such as maintaining records on children and families, ordering equipment, maintaining inventories and keeping personnel records.
- Adhere to all Company policies and procedures.
- Ensure that the Company’s polices on diversity and equal opportunities are adhered to.
- Undertake any other duties as reasonably requested by line management.
