Are you a passionate cook looking for a rewarding role? Davigdor Lodge Rest Home is seeking a Chef to join our friendly team in Hove.
Davigdor Lodge is a warm and supportive residential care setting, and this role offers the opportunity to make a real difference to the daily lives of our residents through good food. You will be working under the guidance of our Head Chef, preparing nutritious, home-cooked meals for approximately 25 service users, as well as meals for on-duty staff.
We are looking for someone who enjoys cooking traditional, wholesome food, takes pride in maintaining high standards, and has a caring and compassionate approach. Experience in a similar role is preferred, but training can be provided for the right person.
Key responsibilities:
- Prepare and cook nutritious, home-style meals for residents and on-duty staff
- Produce a variety of traditional dishes such as cottage pie, lasagne, curries, fish and chips, salads and omelettes
- Cater for individual dietary requirements and preferences
- Maintain high standards of cleanliness, food hygiene and food safety
- Assist with stock rotation, food storage and kitchen organisation
- Support the smooth day-to-day running of the kitchen
- Following induction, work confidently and independently when required
What we are looking for:
- Experience in a similar chef, cook or kitchen role is preferred
- A genuine passion for home-style cooking
- Ability to work independently and manage a small kitchen
- A flexible, reliable and hardworking approach
- A caring and compassionate attitude towards residents
- Basic food hygiene knowledge is desirable, although training can be provided
- Good organisational skills and the ability to work as part of a team
