Role Purpose:
We are looking for a Data Engineer to join ERGO and support the continued development of our data processing infrastructure. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with strong technical foundations, a problem-solving mindset and a desire to create practical, high-quality solutions that have a direct impact on the business.
In this role, you will help design, implement and maintain data platforms and pipelines that underpin analytics, business intelligence, financial monitoring and bordereaux ETL. You will work as part of a small team, collaborating closely with internal stakeholders and external partners to deliver reliable, timely and well-governed data solutions.
Responsibility:
- Supporting the design, build and maintenance of scalable data platforms and architecture for analytics and reporting.
- Developing and maintaining reliable ETL/ELT pipelines to ingest data from internal and external sources, including bordereaux and operational systems.
- Implementing data validation, monitoring and error-handling processes to support accuracy, resilience and data integrity.
- Contributing to logical and physical data models optimised for analytics and business intelligence.
- Working closely with colleagues across ERGO to understand requirements, present solutions and enable effective use of data.
- Partnering with Bordereaux Operations to support automated ingestion, validation and transformation of bordereaux data.
- Ensuring data platforms and processes align with relevant regulatory requirements, including GDPR and industry standards.
- Identifying opportunities to improve performance, scalability, automation and cost-efficiency across the data environment.
What you will bring:

A degree in Computer Science, Mathematics or Engineering, or equivalent evidence of a strong technical background.
- Strong SQL skills, ideally MSSQL.
- Python experience, including common data processing modules.
- An understanding of canonicalisation and ETL processes.
- Active, motivated problem-solving skills and attention to quality.
- Strong communication skills, including the ability to gather requirements and explain technical solutions clearly.
- Adaptability and curiosity in a changing financial and technology landscape.
Desirable:
- Experience working in insurance, financial services or another regulated environment.
- Knowledge of Microsoft Fabric and/or PySpark.
- Experience using Git or source control workflows.
