Laker Vent Engineering Ltd is a mechanical contractor operating within the engineering construction industry. We specialise in the installation of highly regulated process piping systems, serving blue chip clients across the Power & Energy, Pharmaceutical, and Petrochemical industries.
Role Summary
Laker Vent Engineering is seeking an experienced Site HSE Advisor to support the safe delivery of a major mechanical and process pipework installation project.
The successful candidate will provide day-to-day health, safety and environmental support to site management and construction teams, ensuring compliance with company procedures, client requirements and current legislation. The role requires a visible presence on site, promoting a strong safety culture and supporting the safe execution of all project activities.
Key Responsibilities
Health, Safety & Environmental Management
- Provide day-to-day HSE support to site management, supervisors, and construction personnel.
- Monitor compliance with company procedures, site rules, permits, risk assessments, and method statements.
- Maintain a strong site presence and promote positive safety behaviours across the workforce.
- Assist in the implementation and continuous improvement of site HSE standards.
Site Inspections & Audits
- Carry out regular workplace inspections, audits, and safety tours.
- Identify hazards, unsafe acts, and unsafe conditions and ensure corrective actions are implemented.
- Produce inspection and audit reports, including photographic evidence where required.
- Report findings to site management and the LVE QA/HSE Director.
Permit to Work & Documentation
- Support the management and control of the Permit to Work system alongside site management.
- Maintain site HSE records, registers, and documentation.
- Ensure all required safety documentation is current, accurate, and readily available.
- Review subcontractor HSE documentation prior to mobilisation.
Risk Management
- Assist site management with the preparation and review of Risk Assessments and Method Statements (RAMS).
- Ensure control measures are understood and implemented by the workforce.
- Monitor work activities to verify compliance with approved procedures.
Incident Investigation
- Investigate accidents, incidents, near misses, and dangerous occurrences.
- Produce detailed investigation reports and recommend corrective actions.
- Maintain site accident and incident statistics and identify trends requiring improvement.
- Support the close-out of corrective and preventative actions.
Training & Safety Promotion
- Deliver toolbox talks, safety briefings, and awareness campaigns.
- Support workforce engagement initiatives and behavioural safety programmes.
- Promote a positive safety culture throughout the project.
Requirements
- Minimum 5 years' experience in a Health & Safety role within engineering construction, mechanical, industrial, energy, petrochemical, pharmaceutical, or similar sectors.
- Strong knowledge of UK Health & Safety legislation and industry best practice.
- Experience working with Permit to Work systems, RAMS, audits, and incident investigations.
- Ability to influence and engage with personnel at all levels of the organisation.
- Good written and verbal communication skills.
- Competent user of Microsoft Office applications.
Qualifications
- NEBOSH General Certificate (minimum).
- NEBOSH Construction Certificate or Diploma desirable.
- Relevant HSE memberships (Tech IOSH, Cert IOSH or equivalent) advantageous.
- CSCS, CCNSG Safety Passport or equivalent preferred.

Rates negotiable
Working Hours
108+ hours over 11 day period. Overtime available.
Week 1 - Mon - Thurs : 11 hrs | Fri - Sun: 8.5 hrs
Week 2 - Mon - Thurs: 11 hrs | Fri - Sun: OFF
