Job Title: Wash Area Operative
Responsible to: Team Leader / Team Manager
Main Role:
To make sure all equipment, trays, trolleys, utensils, and other items are cleaned and sanitised to a high standard, helping to maintain food safety and hygiene in the production area.
Main Duties:
- Always wear the correct personal protective equipment (PPE) and follow health, safety, and food safety rules.
- Fill sinks with the correct cleaning chemicals and water as required.
- Operate the tray wash machine safely and correctly.
- Switch the tray wash machine on and off following company procedures.
- Check that the tray wash machine is clean and in good working order.
- Monitor chemical levels in the tray wash and replace or refill chemicals when required.
- Report any faults, damage, or maintenance issues with the tray wash machine or other equipment.
- Wash bain-marie trays, shape moulds, trolleys (including wheels), utensils, and other equipment, ensuring all food debris is removed.
- Follow the "dirty in, clean out" process to prevent cross-contamination.
- Make sure all cleaned items are properly sanitised, dried, and returned to the correct department.
- Keep the wash area clean, tidy, and organised always.
- Clean up excess water from floors and surfaces to maintain a safe working environment.
- Carry out general cleaning duties within the wash area to keep it free from dirt and contaminants.
- Assist other departments when required and support the wider team.

Shift Pattern:
Weekend (Saturday & Sunday) – 7am to 4pm (30-minute unpaid break)
