Requirements for Care Assistant
· The ability and willingness to undertake Care Certificate training and to continue your development up to a diploma level 2
· Practical housekeeping and caring abilities.
· Honest and trustworthy
· Good English communication skills both spoken and written.
· Ability to relate to the elderly and vulnerable adults in a constructive manner.
· Ability to exercise discretion and work on own initiative whilst observing procedures and guidelines.
· Ability to accept direction and supervision.
· Flexible working hours availability.
· Telephone
· Car or reliable transport preferable but not essential in some areas.
Responsibilities for Care Assistant
To deliver support to service users of all ages and abilities by way of personal, domestic services and support in social activities in order to promote independence and enable the service user to maintain an enhanced quality of life.
To provide assistance with:
· Washing, dressing, toileting
· General household tasks
· Bed making.
· Shopping
· Preparation and cooking of meals
· The use of personal aids and equipment.
· The care worker may also be required to provide support in social activities.
The Care worker must at all times work within the Code of Requirements of the Health and Safety at Work Act and within Penhellis’ Policies and Procedures, having regard to the safety, wellbeing and dignity of the service user and observing confidentiality.
