We’re Scene (drinkscene.co.uk) – Doncaster’s independent coffee spot known for exceptional speciality coffees, matcha mastery, creative drinks, and a genuine community vibe. We roast with Yorkshire suppliers, ban small talk, spark real conversations, and focus on making every customer feel truly seen. We’re looking for a skilled, reliable Weekend Barista to join our tight-knit, high-energy team on Saturdays and Sundays only. This isn’t an entry-level role for time-wasters or complete beginners. We need someone experienced who can hit the ground running, work confidently on their own, and bring bubbly, conversational energy that matches our “Be seen, feel seen, Drink Scene” ethos.
Key Responsibilities
- Craft high-quality speciality coffees, matcha drinks, teas, and signature beverages to our exacting standards using professional equipment.
- Deliver warm, genuine, and engaging customer service – bubbly, conversational, and focused on real connections (no small talk!).
- Take accurate orders, handle cash/card payments, make enthusiastic recommendations, and create Instagram-worthy moments (latte art, presentation, etc.).
- Maintain a spotless, organised workspace – including deep cleaning, stock rotation, equipment care, and strict hygiene standards.
- Work confidently solo during quieter periods while thriving as a team player during busy weekend rushes.
- Assist with opening/closing duties and restocking.
- Help capture content-worthy experiences when the moment’s right.
Hours & Schedule
- Weekends only: Saturdays and Sundays.
- Shift pattern: Typically 8am – 5pm (includes 30-min unpaid lunch break) – exact hours may flex slightly with demand.
- Expected commitment: Both weekend days on a regular basis (roughly 16–20 hours per week).
Pay & Perks
- £13.00 – £15.00 per hour (depending on experience – starts well above National Living Wage and competitive for Doncaster independents).
- Shared digital/card tips on top.
- Free drinks on every shift.

- Full training on our specific recipes, SOPs, and vibe (but you must already have solid barista foundations).

Requirements
- Proven barista skills and experience essential – we don’t have time to train from scratch. You need to be confident pulling shots, steaming milk, crafting matcha drinks, and handling busy weekend service solo.
- Naturally bubbly, outgoing, and conversational personality that builds instant rapport.
- Reliable, punctual, and physically able to work on your feet for full weekend shifts.
- Strong food hygiene knowledge (Level 2 or willingness to refresh – we support this).
- Passion for quality coffee/matcha and our “feel seen” customer experience.
- Bonus: Creative flair (latte art, social media savvy, content ideas) is highly valued.
