About Solihull Music School:
We are a vibrant, family-run private music school committed to delivering high-quality music education using the Yamaha Music Method. Our purpose-built studios create a dynamic and supportive learning environment for children and adults. We are looking to expand our teaching team with another self-employed Drum Teacher who can inspire students of all ages and abilities.
Job Purpose:
To deliver engaging and technically sound drum lessons to individual students and small groups (up to 5), ensuring consistent progression and a positive student experience.
Key Responsibilities:
· Teach drum lessons using Solihull Music School’s structured curriculum and lesson plans
· Motivate and support students in preparation for performances, exams, and class concerts
· Maintain accurate attendance records and student notes in our digital learning portal
· Participate in student recruitment through Free Taster Lessons
· Prepare for and deliver classroom concerts each term for beginner and grade 1/2 students
· Contribute to studio maintenance and report any issues to the admin team
· Attend staff training, CPD sessions, and Yamaha teacher development courses – next training is 17th to 19th August at Yamaha in Milton Keynes.
· Be available for term-time teaching (44 weeks per year) including evenings and weekends
Required Skills & Experience:
· Minimum Grade 6 but preferably Grade 8 in Drums (or equivalent professional experience)
· Strong sight-reading, theory, and performance skills
· Ability to use lesson planning resources and teach to a curriculum
· Experience working with both children and adults
· Willingness to teach one weekend day · Excellent communication and organisational skills
· Reliable and punctual with strong classroom presence
Training & Support:
· Initial and follow-up Yamaha Teacher Training provided
· CPD and staff training days annually
· Technical and admin support available on-site
Safeguarding & GDPR Compliance:
· All teachers must have a valid Enhanced DBS (first check funded by school)
· Full training on Safeguarding and GDPR provided
· Teachers must adhere to all policies regarding contact with under-16s

Schedule & Availability:
· We have lessons for a teacher/teachers to take over from our current teacher plus an extensive waiting list. Currently the lessons are on Mon/Tues/Wed from 4pm-8pm and Saturday 8.45am-3.15pm. We are planning new lessons on Sunday and Thursday/Friday. Please state your availability/days you are willing to teach. Please choose one weekend day.
