Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and adaptable Cover Supervisor and Teaching Assistant to support classroom activities across various educational settings. The successful candidate will be responsible for supervising classes in the absence of teachers and providing tailored assistance to pupils, fostering an inclusive and engaging environment. Duties
- Supervise pupils during lessons, break times, and organised activities, ensuring a safe and orderly environment
- Support teachers by assisting with lesson preparation and classroom organisation
- Provide one-to-one or small group support to students with special educational needs, including those with autism or behavioural challenges
- Assist pupils with their learning activities, including creative writing tasks, tutoring, and mentoring programmes
- Foster positive behaviour and encourage student engagement through effective communication and personalised support
- Monitor student progress and report any concerns or behavioural issues to teaching staff
- Implement tailored strategies for students with disabilities or additional needs, ensuring inclusive participation in lessons
- Support the organisation of extra-curricular activities and specialised programmes as required
Skills
- Experience working with children, particularly within educational or childcare environments
- Knowledge of special education needs (SEN), including working with individuals with autism or disabilities
- Strong communication skills, capable of engaging effectively with pupils, teachers, and parents
- Ability to adapt teaching methods to meet diverse learning styles and needs
- Creative writing skills to assist in literacy development activities
- Mentoring and tutoring experience to support individual pupil progress
- Organised, proactive, and able to manage behaviour constructively in a classroom setting
- Passionate about supporting inclusive education and fostering a positive learning environment
