Sheffield Woodland Kindergarten is a small early years' setting in the heart of Sheffield, located within Lynwood Gardens. We are looking for an early years practitioner to join our outdoor nursery.
As we are fully outdoors, we pride ourselves on offering something a little different to our children and families. You don't necessarily need a forest school qualification to join our team, just a passion for outdoor learning in the early years. Lots of our staff have come from indoor nursery settings and have since fallen in love with our outdoor approach!
To be considered for this position you must have:
- A relevant Early Years Qualification at Level 3 or above
- Up to date knowledge and experience of the EYFS
- A pair of good sturdy outdoor boots
You could be an ideal candidate if you:
- Have a good sense of humour, good communication skills, and will enjoy working as part of small but growing team
- Believe in a child-centred approach; observing, listening and supporting children’s thoughts, feelings and interests
- Value parent partnerships within your role and exploring ways we can involve parents in children’s learning and development
- Enjoy a good feast cooked in a mud kitchen - although our mud kitchen lacks a 5* food hygiene rating due to the mud, woodlice and worms the chefs can certainly whip you up a creative dish!
- Use your imagination to become a tyrannosaurus in the morning and be zooming in a rocket to the moon by the afternoon.
- Are not afraid of the sun, wind, rain and other weathers, instead you can splash in the puddles, dance in the rain, sing in the sun and twirl in the wind.
If you're looking for a new adventure in early years, this could be it.
The successful candidate will join our team for 3 or 4 days a week (applicants preference). These will be set days which are agreed with you upon accepting the job offer. Working hours will be between 8am and 5.30pm Monday to Friday, with occasional meetings or events in the evening or on weekends.
We value when our employees work extra and therefore offer an overtime rate for when employees work an extra day to help cover annual leave or sickness.
We support and encourage our employees to further their skills and knowledge, offering training through NoodleNow, BentoBot, and Sheffield City Council.
We are committed to safeguarding children. All our employees are subject to rigorous reference checking and have an up-to-date DBS check. We provide opportunities for staff to complete and refresh their safeguarding knowledge regularly.
If you are interested in the position, we would love to hear from you. Please apply for the role with your CV and a covering letter; explaining why you are applying for the role and what you feel you can bring to our team.
