Behaviour Teaching Assistant – Southampton

A specialist education setting in Southampton is seeking a dedicated and resilient Behaviour Teaching Assistant to join their supportive team on a full-time basis.
The Role
As a Behaviour Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with pupils who require additional behavioural and emotional support within the classroom and around the school setting. You will play a key role in helping students engage positively with learning, develop social skills, and build confidence.
Responsibilities
- Supporting students on a 1:1 and small group basis
- Managing challenging behaviour using positive behaviour strategies
- Assisting the class teacher with lesson delivery and classroom management
- Encouraging student engagement, independence, and emotional regulation
- Building positive relationships with pupils, staff, and parents
- Supporting pupils with SEMH, ADHD, ASD, or behavioural needs
Requirements
- Previous experience working with children or young people
- Experience supporting challenging behaviour is highly desirable
- Calm, patient, and resilient approach
- Strong communication and relationship-building skills
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team
- Relevant safeguarding checks will be required
