Make a difference where it matters most
Northern Cancer Voices is a patient-led network working to ensure that the voices of people affected by cancer shape services across the North of England. We are passionate about reducing inequalities and improving experiences, and we know that meaningful change starts with listening to communities.
We are looking for two Operations & Engagement Officers to join our team and help us build strong, trusted relationships with communities, particularly those whose voices are too often unheard.
About the role(s)
This is a highly rewarding, outward-facing role where you will spend the majority of your time working directly with communities. You’ll be out and about listening, connecting, and building relationships, while also ensuring that what you hear leads to real change. Approximately 70% of your time will be community-based, delivering engagement activities across your area. Around 30% will be home-based/remote, focused on planning, administration, and reporting. You will work independently for much of the time, so confidence in managing your own workload and priorities is essential.
What you’ll be doing
Building relationships with community groups, local organisations, and grassroots networks | Designing and delivering engagement activities such as workshops, drop-ins, and listening events | Reaching people from diverse and underserved communities | Gathering and amplifying lived experiences of people affected by cancer | Supporting co-production and collaboration with health and voluntary sector partners | Turning community insight into meaningful reports and recommendations | Helping ensure that community voices influence cancer services and decision-making
What we’re looking for
We’re looking for someone who is passionate about people, communities, and making a difference.
You will need to have: Experience of community engagement, outreach, or similar work | Strong relationship-building and communication skills | The ability to work independently and effectively manage your own workload | Confidence in organising and delivering engagement activities | A commitment to equality, diversity, and inclusion | The ability to travel regularly across your designated area. Essential requirement: A full, clean driving licence and access to a vehicle.
