Capitol Students are looking for a passionate, dedicated and skilled Maintenance Assistant to join their team.
You will be responsible for managing all areas of maintenance including reactive works, PPMs and summer refurbishment. The ability to plan and organise your own time is vital.
Key Duties & Responsibilities
- Perform repairs as reported by residents including electrical, plumbing, painting, joining and general maintenance.
- Record jobs and repairs on a database as appropriate.
- Advise management team as to best course of action for larger jobs and repairs falling outside of your remit.
- Perform weekly checks and servicing of equipment including fire alarms and equipment, lifts etc.
- Keep logs and records up to date.
- Take water samples to ensure compliance with Legionella control.
- Perform maintenance turnarounds and checks of room in between bookings.
- Ensure all checks are detailed and reported back appropriately to management.
- PAT Testing of portable electronic devices.
- Upkeep of the external areas
- Maintain inventory of equipment, perform regular checks to ensure safe operation and high standard of maintenance.
- Storage of equipment in appropriate manner in accordance with Health and Safety Policy.
- Record stock levels of maintenance equipment and inform administrative team when replacement stock is needed.
- Maintain a good relationship with residents.
- Assist management team in ad hoc requests as appropriate especially at peak times such as move in and out period. This will require performing extra hours in addition to your contracted term.

Tools and uniform are provided and there is a comprehensive induction provided with the opportunity to work alongside other members of the maintenance team.

Working pattern is Monday-Friday 09:00 to 18.00 ( 40 hours week, 1 hour unpaid break), occasional weekends are required during summer turnaround periods.
You will predominantly be based at one of our buildings but there will be an expectation to work at other sites where business operations require; all sites are within Plymouth city centre.
