Learning Support Assistants / Teaching Assistants – SEND School

We are currently recruiting passionate and experienced Learning Support Assistants / Teaching Assistants to join a specialist SEND school in Chessington this September.
The school supports pupils aged 10–19 with a range of additional needs including:
- Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC)
- Moderate to severe learning difficulties
- Social, Emotional and Mental Health needs (SEMH)
This is a rewarding opportunity to support young people in a nurturing and structured environment where every pupil is encouraged to thrive both academically and personally.
Both 1:1 support roles and whole-class support positions are available.
Trials and interviews will take place throughout June and July, with successful candidates starting in September.
The Role
- Supporting students with autism, learning difficulties and SEMH needs
- Assisting teachers with classroom activities and behaviour support
- Building positive relationships that promote confidence and engagement
- Supporting pupils both academically and emotionally
- Encouraging independence, communication and social development
- Working collaboratively with teachers, therapists and pastoral teams
- Helping to create a safe, positive and inclusive learning environment
Person Specification
We are looking for individuals who are:
- Experienced working within SEND or specialist education settings
- Calm, patient and resilient under pressure
- Passionate about supporting young people with additional needs
- Confident managing challenging behaviour in a supportive manner
- Strong team players with excellent communication skills
- Adaptable, proactive and enthusiastic
- Committed to making a positive difference in students’ lives
Essential Requirements
- Previous experience supporting children or young people with SEND is essential
- Experience working with autism and/or SEMH needs is highly desirable
- Ability to work full-time during term time
- Enhanced DBS check (or willingness to obtain one)
This role would suit experienced Teaching Assistants, Learning Support Assistants, youth workers, care staff or graduates looking to build a career within specialist education.
