Overview
We are seeking an experienced Auto Electrician to join a well-established specialist vehicle manufacturer based in West Yorkshire.
The successful candidate will be responsible for the installation, wiring, testing and fault finding of electrical systems on bespoke vehicle builds, working closely with mechanical fitters, fabricators and vehicle assembly teams.
This is an excellent opportunity for candidates from commercial vehicle, HGV, emergency vehicle, coachbuilding, plant or specialist vehicle backgrounds looking to work on complex and highly engineered products.
Duties
- Installation and routing of wiring looms on specialist vehicles.
- Wiring and installation of lighting systems, warning equipment and auxiliary electrical systems.
- Fault finding and diagnosis of electrical issues using wiring diagrams and schematics.
- Installation and testing of 12V and 24V electrical systems.
- Working from electrical drawings, technical diagrams and build specifications.
- Assembly and installation of electrical components and control systems.
- Testing and commissioning completed electrical systems.
- Supporting vehicle build teams throughout the assembly process.
- Carrying out repairs, modifications and electrical upgrades where required.
- Ensuring all work is completed to a high standard whilst adhering to health and safety procedures.
Skills & Experience
- Previous experience as an Auto Electrician, Vehicle Electrician or similar role.
- Experience working on commercial vehicles, HGVs, specialist vehicles, coaches, plant equipment or emergency vehicles is highly desirable.
- Strong fault-finding and diagnostic ability.
- Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and engineering drawings.
- Experience with 12V and 24V vehicle electrical systems.
- Knowledge of wiring looms, lighting systems, control panels and auxiliary equipment.
- Good mechanical understanding and practical hands-on skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- High attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship.
Desirable Experience
- CAN Bus systems.
- Specialist vehicle experience.
- Coachbuilding or vehicle conversion experience.
- HGV or commercial vehicle background.
- Electrical testing and commissioning.
Hours of Work
The position operates on a 4½-day working week, offering an excellent work-life balance:
- Monday to Thursday: 7:15am – 4:15pm
- Friday: 7:15am – 12:15pm
