Overview
We are seeking compassionate and dedicated homecare assistants to provide personalised support for a female client with dementia, mobility, personal care needs in the M30 area (to provide support and respite to her husband whom she lives with). This role involves assisting with daily activities and ensuring safety within the comfort of her own home. The ideal candidate will possess patience, provide calm reassurance and understanding , bring positive cheer, have excellent communication skills, be reliable, and comfortable working independently. The home has a small dog, and both residents are smokers.
Previous experience in care homes or home care settings is advantageous, along with a valid enhanced DBS check, references and driving licence/car to facilitate transportation when necessary.
Responsibilities
- Provide personalised care including assistance with personal hygiene, toileting, dressing, and mobility
- Support the client with daily routines such as meal preparation, going out for lunch, medication reminders, going shopping, errands (expenses paid)
- Assist with mobility needs, ensuring safety during transfers and movement around the home
- Engage in calm, understanding and patient communication to promote mental stimulation and emotional well-being
- Promote a safe and clean environment, help with household chores
Requirements
- Previous experience working within a care home or providing home care is preferred
- Enhanced DBS check and references
- Valid driving licence and car is desirable to assist with transportation needs (mileage allowance paid at 55p per mile)
- Good command of English, both spoken and written, for effective communication
- Excellent communication skills to build rapport with the client and their family
- Ability to work independently while following instructions accurately
- Compassionate attitude with a genuine interest in supporting individuals living with dementia and mobility challenges
Pay: £16.00 per hour
