About the Role:
We are seeking an experienced and commercially focused Quantity Surveyor to join our growing Commercial team. This is an excellent opportunity for a proactive professional who enjoys managing the commercial aspects of projects from tender through to final account settlement.
The successful candidate will play a key role in ensuring projects are delivered efficiently, profitably, and in compliance with contractual obligations, while supporting strong relationships with clients, subcontractors, and project teams.
Key Responsibilities:
As Quantity Surveyor, you will:
- Manage all commercial aspects of projects from pre-contract to final account.
- Monitor project programmes to identify delays and assess entitlement to extensions of time.
- Administer contract change control processes, including notices, variations, and claims.
- Prepare and submit interim applications for payment and manage cash collection activities.
- Monitor project costs, valuations, forecasts, and profitability.
- Produce monthly commercial reports including:
- Cost Value Reconciliations (CVRs)
- Cash flow forecasts
- Cost-to-complete forecasts
- Risk and opportunity assessments
- Earned Value Analysis
- Support Project Managers in delivering projects in line with contractual, financial, and operational objectives.
- Procure and manage subcontractors, including contractual administration and financial control.
- Attend project handover, start-up, progress, and review meetings.
- Ensure contract documentation is maintained accurately and in accordance with company procedures.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, subcontractors, and internal stakeholders.
- Identify and communicate commercial risks and opportunities at an early stage.
About You:
To be successful in this role, you will have:
Essential
- Minimum 5 years' experience in a Quantity Surveying role within a main contractor or project delivery environment.
- HND, Degree, or equivalent qualification in Quantity Surveying.
- Strong commercial management experience including subcontract procurement and administration.
- Good working knowledge of JCT, NEC and/or IChemE forms of contract.
- Understanding of Construction Law and contractual obligations.
- Experience in cost analysis, estimating, applications for payment, claims, and final accounts.
- Knowledge of monthly reporting processes and earned value analysis.
- Strong negotiation and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication, organisational, and time management abilities.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
- Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with project teams and clients.
Desirable
- Membership of, or working towards membership of, the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS) or another relevant professional body.
- CSCS Card.
- Experience building productive relationships across all stakeholder levels.
- Results-driven and self-motivated approach.
