Overview
We are seeking a skilled FLT Counterbalance Driver to join our warehouse team. The successful candidate will be responsible for efficiently handling materials, operating forklifts safely, and supporting the overall management of goods within the warehouse environment. This role is vital in ensuring smooth logistics operations and maintaining a safe, organised workspace.
Duties
- Operate forklift trucks to load, unload, and move materials across the warehouse
- Assist with shipping and receiving activities, including checking deliveries and preparing items for dispatch
- Utilise warehouse management systems to track inventory movements and update records accurately
- Perform basic equipment repairs and maintenance checks on forklifts and other machinery as needed
- Handle materials carefully, ensuring proper stacking and storage to optimise space utilisation
- Support with stock organisation, picking, packing, and preparing orders for shipment
- Conduct safety inspections before use of equipment and report any faults or hazards immediately
- Assist in general warehouse duties to ensure a clean and safe working environment
Qualifications
- A valid, in-date and accredited forklift licence is essential
- Proven experience operating forklift trucks (counterbalance) within a warehouse setting
- Strong understanding of materials handling techniques and safety protocols
- Ability to perform basic maths accurately for inventory counts and measurements
- Capable of heavy lifting and physically demanding tasks throughout the shift
- Previous experience in shipping & receiving operations is desirable
- Good organisational skills with attention to detail in record keeping and stock management
- Basic knowledge of warehouse safety standards and procedures
