Job Overview
We are seeking a skilled and compassionate Phlebotomist to join our healthcare team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for collecting blood samples from patients, ensuring the highest standards of patient care and safety. This role requires a thorough understanding of medical terminology, anatomy, and physiology, as well as proficiency in aseptic techniques. The Phlebotomist will work closely with patients of all ages, including paediatrics, in various settings such as hospitals and laboratories.
This is a flexible, part-time position, offering an ad-hoc work schedule based on demand and project requirements. The role allows for the flexibility to work as needed, providing a dynamic and adaptable work environment.

Duties
- Perform venepuncture and capillary blood collection while adhering to aseptic techniques.
- Ensure accurate identification of patients prior to blood collection to prevent errors.
- Maintain a clean and organised work environment, ensuring all equipment is properly sterilised and stored.
- Document all procedures accurately in accordance with laboratory protocols and medical regulations.
- Communicate effectively with patients to explain procedures and alleviate any concerns they may have.
- Collaborate with healthcare professionals to ensure optimal patient care and follow-up on test results.
- Assist in the training of new staff or interns in phlebotomy techniques and best practices.
- Stay updated on advancements in phlebotomy techniques and laboratory practices.
Experience
Candidates should possess the following skills and knowledge:
- Proficient in aseptic technique and familiar with laboratory environments.
- Strong understanding of physiology, anatomy, and medical terminology relevant to phlebotomy.
- Experience working with paediatric patients is advantageous.
- Ability to catheterise when necessary, demonstrating versatility in patient care.
- Basic life support certification is preferred to ensure readiness for emergency situations.
