Due to continued growth, we are looking for an experienced Self Employed Fire Proofing / Fire Stopping Engineer to join our team.
Role Overview
The Fire Proofing / Fire Stopping Engineer will be responsible for installing, repairing, and maintaining fire stopping systems to ensure buildings remain compliant with fire safety regulations. The role will involve working across multiple sites carrying out remedial works, inspections, and installations.
Key Responsibilities
- Installation of passive fire protection systems including:
- Fire stopping to service penetrations
- Fire batt installations
- Intumescent sealants and wraps
- Fire collars and fire pillows
- Carrying out remedial works following fire risk assessments or compartmentation surveys
- Ensuring all installations meet current fire safety standards and regulations
- Completing site reports, photographs, and compliance documentation
- Working closely with the operations team to ensure works are completed on schedule
- Maintaining a high standard of workmanship and safety on all sites
Requirements
- Previous experience in passive fire protection / fire stopping
- Knowledge of fire compartmentation principles
- Experience installing fire batt, mastic, collars, wraps and sealing systems
- Ability to read and understand site drawings and specifications
- Good understanding of health and safety procedures
- Full UK Driving Licence
- Strong attention to detail and ability to work independently
Desirable Qualifications
- NVQ Level 2 in Passive Fire Protection (or equivalent)
- FIRAS / BM TRADA experience
- CSCS Card
- Asbestos Awareness
- IPAF / PASMA (beneficial but not essential)
