Job Overview
We are seeking a compassionate and reliable Part-time Carer to provide support and assistance to an 80-year-old male living with Alzheimer's and Type 1 Diabetes to give respite to his primary carer. The ideal candidate will be dedicated to enhancing the quality of life for client through personalised care, ensuring their safety, comfort, and well-being. This role offers flexible hours suitable for those looking to make a positive difference while balancing other commitments.
Duties
- Assisting clients with daily activities such as personal hygiene, dressing, and mobility
- Supporting clients with medication reminders and health monitoring as per care plans
- Providing companionship and emotional support to reduce feelings of loneliness
- Assisting with light household tasks including cleaning, laundry, and meal preparation
- Driving clients to appointments, social activities, or shopping trips in a safe and timely manner
- Maintaining accurate records of care provided and reporting any concerns to supervisors
- Communicating effectively with clients, family members, and healthcare professionals to ensure seamless care delivery
- Assisting with food and drink preparation and encouragement to eat
- Providing companionship through conversation and active listening
- Enjoying music together and supporting meaningful activities
- Accompanying gentle walks around the garden
- Offering reassurance, patience, and a calm presence
- Supporting the wellbeing of both the individual and their spouse
Experience
- Previous experience in a care home or home care environment is advantageous but not essential; full training will be provided
- Knowledge of care plans and ability to adapt support accordingly
- Strong communication skills in English, both verbal and written
- Valid driving licence is preferred to facilitate client transportation
- Compassionate attitude with excellent interpersonal skills to build trusting relationships with clients
- Understanding of diabetes care is beneficial
- Comfortable supporting someone with Alzheimer's disease

Pay: £15.00-£28.00 per hour
