Role Overview
The Time Critical / Quotes Manager will sit within the Sales team and act as a key commercial bridge between Sales and Operations, supporting the growth of Freightline ’ time-critical and urgent logistics services.
This is a commercially focused, customer-facing role combining pricing expertise, operational understanding, and proactive business development engagement. The primary objective is to support revenue growth by pricing incoming opportunities, re-engaging dormant and non-trading customers, and proactively following up prospects who have previously requested pricing but did not proceed.
The role requires a strong understanding of urgent road freight, air freight, and specialist time-critical solutions, combined with excellent communication skills and a strong commercial mindset. The position is ideal for someone confident engaging customers to uncover opportunities and add value through fast, accurate, and tailored pricing solutions.
Key Responsibilities
Pricing & Commercial Support
- Price all incoming time-critical quotes accurately, quickly, and competitively
- Provide cost analysis and pricing recommendations aligned with operational capability and margin targets
- Support Business Development and Sales with pricing strategy for spot quotes, tenders, and urgent opportunities
- Work closely with Operations to ensure pricing reflects real-time market conditions, capacity, and service feasibility
Business Development & Sales Engagement
- Re-engage prospects who previously submitted RFQs but did not proceed
- Review dormant and non-trading customers and proactively reintroduce services
- Proactively contact prospects via phone and email to offer updated pricing, cost reviews, or alternative solutions
- Act as a trusted commercial contact for customers, delivering high service levels and responsiveness
Tenders & RFQs
- Support and manage structured RFQs, tenders, and key account pricing exercises
- Gather operational and commercial inputs to ensure competitive and deliverable submissions
- Liaise with internal stakeholders to ensure compliance, accuracy, and service feasibility
CRM & Pipeline Management
- Use CRM systems to track, update, and manage customer, quote, and pipeline data
- Proactively follow up leads within the CRM to convert opportunities and identify additional revenue streams
- Track engagement, follow-ups, and outcomes accurately
- Maintain clear records of pricing activity, customer interactions, and commercial performance
Key Skills & Experience
Essential
- Proven experience in time-critical logistics, urgent freight, or freight forwarding
- Strong knowledge of UK / European road freight and/or air freight
- Experience in pricing, quoting, or commercial logistics roles
- Strong commercial mindset with confidence speaking to customers
- High attention to detail and ability to manage multiple urgent priorities
Desirable
- Experience working closely with Sales or Business Development teams
- Experience using CRM systems for pipeline and opportunity management
- Experience handling tenders and structured RFQs
- Understanding of margin management and logistics cost drivers

Job Type: Full-time
Pay: £32,000.00-£38,000.00 per year
