We are pleased to be recruiting to an 8a Psychodynamic psychotherapist post (0.6 wte) to be a senior therapist within the psychodynamic modality of our multi-modality therapy team in secondary care. The post holder will be an experienced clinician practicing psychodynamically with adults with moderate-severe mood, anxiety and personality disorders. The post holder will ideally have experience of line managing and supervising therapists providing psychodynamic psychotherapy, as well as offering consultation and link-working with colleagues.
The successful applicant will support the work of the lead 8b Principal Psychodynamic psychotherapist within the team. They will hold a caseload of psychodynamic psychotherapy cases, delivering assessment and therapy to the more complex presentations. They will line manage and supervise more junior staff within the service and provide professional supervision. The post holder will contribute to service audits and development projects, and consultation within the team and to other professionals.
1. The successful applicant will work alongside other Psychodynamic psychotherapists delivering assessment and therapy. They will also work alongside psychotherapists offering Cognitive Analytic Therapy and Clinical/Counselling Psychologists offering CBT, tf-CBT, Schema informed therapy and EMDR, as part of this well-established multi-modality team. There are line management and supervisory responsibilities, as well as link-working with CMHTs to provide consultation, teaching, co-working. The team is based in central Croydon (Jeanette Wallace House) and face-to-face sessions are provided at this base and at other Croydon sites. Wednesdays are an essential team day.

- To provide a highly specialist psychological interventions according to discipline: Adult Psychodynamic Psychotherapy including specialist assessment, treatment, planning, implementation and monitoring of outcomes.
- To contribute to enabling other staff, service users and carers from diverse backgrounds to flourish by working to create a psychologically safe environment.
- To provide clinical supervision and consultation as appropriate, functioning as a lead specialist in Adult Psychodynamic Psychotherapy in secondary care.
- To promote service evaluation, audit and research.
- To work as an autonomous professional within registration body guidelines and codes of conduct and guided by principles and policies or procedures of the service, taking responsibility for interpreting policies within defined parameters.
- To agree outcomes/results with clinical/professional lead and to decide how they are best achieved.
- To be active in the provision of staff support within their area, including but not limited to Critical Incident Staff Support and Reflect-Support-Resolve. To participate, as a recipient, in staff support work when appropriate.
