Overview
We are seeking a reliable Site Manager to join our team at Queen's Manor and oversee the maintenance, safety, and operational efficiency of our school site in Fulham. You will be working independently, supported by a Health & Safety Officer and an Estates Manager. The ideal candidate will possess strong customer service skills; a proactive and positive attitude; and a commitment to ensuring a secure and well-maintained environment for our children and staff.
Duties
Security
- To ensure that the school site is secure at all times - regular perimeter checks
- Manage the access control system (external and internal) including activating and deactivating staff access cards/fobs as required.
- Check that the buildings and premises have not been disturbed overnight. Turn on/off lights, heating, check windows, internal doors and locks.
- Manage the key safes in school including maintaining a register of key holders and car park fobs
- Ensure the buildings and external gates, including the car park gates, are locked and unlocked at appropriate times and arm/disarm the security system.
- Act as primary key-holder.
- Act as first contact and manage any on site emergencies.
Cleaning and Hygiene
- Monitor cleaning and report to the Estates Manager, on a regular basis, on the effectiveness of the cleaning
- Act as key contact for the school cleaning team
- Ensure that stocks of cleaning materials, soap, paper towel, toilet consumables etc. are maintained and replenished as needed in all classrooms and bathrooms.
- Ensure that COSHH regulations are observed
- Emergency and ad hoc cleaning duties as required.
- Collection and disposal of recycling and waste from internal and external bins in conjunction with the cleaners.
- Ensure that all internal and external hard surfaces and the MUGA are clean and tidy eg daily sweeping of playground, leaf clearance, litter picking.
- Ensure that storage areas and kept clean and tidy
Site Management
- Undertake building repairs and maintenance as needed and report on issues requiring specialist services.
- Regular inspection and maintenance of school furniture, play equipment, fire fighting equipment, pipes and gutters etc
- Maintain the garden beds/plants by watering, pruning and weeding.
- Ensure that lighting is kept in good working order throughout the school, replaced as needed and used efficiently.
- Ensure that the school is adequately heated and that boilers are managed efficiently
- Take water readings as needed and ensure that water is used efficiently eg ensure taps are not leaking, broken, etc.
- Act as the main point of contact for contractors/external agencies requiring access to the site and accompany contractors at all times while on site, monitoring progress and ensuring that work is carried out to the required standard.
- Maintain detailed records of maintenance activities, inspections, and repairs for compliance purposes.
- Log status updates and tasks completed for compliance on the site management software.
- To act as porter for deliveries, paper, fruit, milk, furniture removals and any other lifting tasks required by the school. Move furniture/ set up spaces as required for assemblies, parent evenings, etc
Health and Safety
- Ensure that the school complies with the United Learning and local Health and Safety policy requirements
- Follow up contractors as needed where defects are identified and ensure issues are resolved
- To operate in accordance with safe working practices
- Identify hazards and ensure immediate remediation and reporting to senior staff as needed
- Carry out risk assessments as appropriate with support from the H&S Officer
- Ensure testing of fire bells, fire doors, emergency lighting, door closers, intruder alarms, fire equipment, etc is carried out internally or by external contractors as appropriate
- To act as Fire Warden
- Provide safe access to the school in times of snow, minor floods and emergency situations.
- Initiate the relevant emergency services procedures quickly and accurately in the event of emergency eg fire, gas, electric.
Lettings
- Ensure that premises are set up as needed prior to letting
- Inspect premises after lettings and report any damage
- Act as the main contact for lettings providing assistance as required eg fire evacuation procedures
Essential experience/knowledge:
- Health and Safety knowledge
- Building/site maintenance knowledge eg heating, plumbing, carpentry, electrical.
Desirable experience/knowledge:
- Experience working in an educational setting
- Building industry experience
