Job Overview
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Support Worker to join our team. The ideal candidate will have experience in providing care and support to individuals in various settings, including assisted living, nursing homes, and home care environments. This role is crucial in enhancing the quality of life for our clients, particularly those with specific needs such as Alzheimer’s and dementia care.
Duties
- Provide personal care assistance to clients, including bathing, dressing, and grooming.
- Support clients with daily living activities and promote their independence.
- Assist with meal preparation and ensure proper nutrition for clients.
- Administer medication as prescribed and monitor client health status.
- Engage clients in meaningful activities to enhance their well-being.
- Implement behaviour management strategies as needed.
- Maintain accurate records of client care and report any changes in condition to the appropriate personnel.
- Provide companionship and emotional support to clients and their families.
- Assist with heavy lifting when necessary, ensuring safety protocols are followed.
- Drive clients to appointments or social activities as required.
Requirements
- Previous experience in assisted living, nursing homes, or similar caregiving roles is preferred.
- Knowledge of Alzheimer’s care, dementia care, hospice care, and senior care practices is highly desirable.
- Certification in first aid is an advantage.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to build rapport with clients.
- A valid driving licence is preferred for transporting clients.
- Ability to perform heavy lifting and physical tasks associated with caregiving.
