Help Build a New Women’s Health Service for Berkshire West
The Primary Care Alliance CIC is a GP-led organisation delivering services on behalf of local practices and NHS partners across Berkshire West.
Following successful Innovation Fund investment, we are launching a new Women’s Health Hub to improve access to specialist women’s health services across Reading, Wokingham and West Berkshire.
This is an exciting opportunity to join a new service from the outset and play a key role in shaping how women’s health care is delivered across Berkshire West.
About the Service
The Women’s Health Hub will provide community-based assessment, diagnosis and management of intermediate-level women’s health and gynaecology conditions.
The service will focus on core pathways including:
- Menopause and perimenopause
- Heavy menstrual bleeding (HMB)
- Pelvic floor health
- Contraception and coil management
- Common gynaecological conditions
The Hub will operate across two locations in Reading/Wokingham and West Berkshire, alongside virtual clinics where appropriate.
Working closely with Royal Berkshire NHS Foundation Trust and primary care colleagues, the service aims to improve access, reduce unwarranted variation and ensure women receive care in the most appropriate setting.
The Role
We are looking for experienced GPs with a strong interest and expertise in women’s health to deliver specialist clinics and support the development of this new service.
You will provide face-to-face and virtual consultations, manage patients within community pathways and work closely with secondary care colleagues to ensure safe and effective care.
A key part of the role will also involve supporting referral management and Advice & Guidance. The Women’s Health Hub will act as a central point of access for Berkshire West women’s health referrals, reviewing referrals received from primary care, providing clinical advice where appropriate and ensuring patients are directed into the most appropriate pathway.
Responsibilities will include:
- Delivering specialist women’s health clinics
- Assessment, diagnosis and management of intermediate-level women’s health conditions
- Reviewing and triaging referrals received into the Women’s Health Hub
- Providing Advice & Guidance to primary care colleagues
- Supporting referral optimisation and reducing unnecessary secondary care referrals
- Undertaking procedures within scope of practice
- Working collaboratively with Royal Berkshire NHS Foundation Trust colleagues
- Supporting service development, pathway design and quality improvement
- Participating in audit, governance and service evaluation activities
- Supporting education and shared learning across primary care
